On August 24, 1995 six Ojibwe items from Bemidji State Universit'y
Lanham Collection of native American Artifacts were stolen while on
loan for an exhibition at the Bemidji Community Arts Center, Bemidji,
Minnesota.
The items are the following: one Woman's Jingle Dress (Black cotton
with tin jingles and two rhinestone pins); one fully beaded man's
dance vest (floral design); two man's leggings (black cotton with
beaded floral design); beaded pipe bag (flower on one side and
bird on the other); beaded dance apron (floral beading on black
cotton,two pieces-front and back); beaded deer hide (five beaded sections).
The university is offering a $1000 reward for the return of all items,
no questions asked. Call collect to: Indian Studies 2218-755-3977 or
