=They need volunteers, but they don't need people who need to be coddled

That's all fine if you know what is going on. Don't forget, everyone
starts someplace. I've done volunteer work in libraries before and know
what kinds of stuff they need done. I could walk into a library anywhere
and start to do useful things.

I haven't worked in a museum before - visited a lot, but not worked. I
know there is a lot of things museums do that aren't readily apparent. I
don't think they'd take too kindly if I jumped in and decided to clean all
the rust off of their metal pieces or used some sandpaper to get rid of
those nasty looking worm holes in the wood beams. I don't need to be
coddled, but I do need to be directed, at least at first. If you do decide
to use volunteers, you have to help them out at least a little.
