POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Position: Curator of Education, The Shrine to Music Museum & Center
for Study of the History of Musical Instruments
Date of Notice: January 23, 1996
Application Deadline: Screening to begin March 15; to continue
until position is filled.
Date of Appointment: May/June 1996
Salary Range: $20,000-25,000
Responsibilities: Educational programming, relating the Museum's
collections to K-12 curriculum needs in the
arts, humanities, and sciences, giving tours,
coordinating a docent program, developing
interpretive materials, and seeking related
grants. Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor's degree or appropriate combination
of education and experience. Dynamic, com-
mitted, self-motivated team player; highly
organized; proven writing skills; able to
communicate at all social levels; willing to
listen, as well as to speak persuasively;
attentive to detail; willing to work evenings
and weekends.
Preferred: M.M., M.A., or M.S. degree.
Other Information: The Shrine to Music Museum & Center for Study
of the History of Musical Instruments is an
academic support unit of The University of
South Dakota, affiliated with the College of
Fine Arts. Its collections of more than 6,000
American, European, and ethnographic musical
instruments from the 16th-20th centuries are
the most comprehensive in the world.
