You might want to consider the Royal Ontario Museum's exhibit called "Into
the Heart of Africa". It was in some respects an exhibit based on the ways
in which the museum collected and interpreted artifacts from another culture
at the turn of the century. However, the exhibit's own interpretation was
unclear, and visitors mistook the curator's exploration of *past*
collecting/ interpreting practices and misconstrued them as *present*
endorsement of colonial imperialism -- a PR fiasco for the museum. Articles
on the exhibit were carried in _Curator_ (36/3, 1993), _Fuse Magazine_ (8/3,
1989-90), and in the _Globe and Mail_ (August 10, 1990).
