The University of Michigan Exhibit Museum of Natural History is looking
for a development officer.  Details follow.  If interested, you must

DUTIES:
Develop, implement, and administer fundraising programs for the Exhibit
Museum; coordinate prospect identification and donor cultivation;
cultivate relationships with potential individual donors, corporations,
foundations and grant-making agencies.  Coordinate the Exhibit Museum's
membership organization, the Friends of the Exhibit Museum.  Coordinate
membership solicitation and records of donor gifts; develop strategies,
marketing programs and solicitation methods to increase Friends'
membership, and work with LS&A Development Office.

NOTE: Hours may range from 20-30 hours per week.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 One to three years experience working with museums or cultural
institutions.  Knowledge of and contacts in the Ann Arbor-Detroit
community; past experience with non-profit organizational growth and
development.  Experience in the development of strategies to increase
membership in a not-for-profit organization; experience working with
governing/advisory boards connected to not-for-profit organizations in
planning, prioritizing and implementing strategic policies;
natural-history/anthropology background desirable, but not essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and
experience; excellent interpersonal skills; good writing and
communication skills; experience in marketing, fundraising, public
relations, and membership coordination in educational or not-for-profit
organizations.
