Double Whammy Opportunity: Experience the latest Distance Learning Technology
& Improve your Museum s Ability to Plan for Change

Join the Midwest Museums Conference, Ameritech, and consultant Will Phillips
to preview the latest interactve video applications. Explore the knowledge,
skills and attitudes that enable museums to change and create effective work
teams. This unique, day-long video workshop connects eight sites in five
midwestern states.

Courtesy of Ameritech, the Midwest Museums Conference brings you first-hand
experience with the state-of-the-art video conference equipment needed for
distance learning. MMC urges leaders of cultural agencies and institutions
toseize this opportunity. On November 1 see and use the latest technology to
explore critical assumptions and priortize critical issues.

Will Phillips, a leader in quality management, will lead two three-hour
sessions from the host site with audience participation from all eight
Ameritech distance learning sites. Mr. Phillips, a management consultant to
visionary American corporations, and founder of QM2, is also the lead
consultant for AAM s New Visions project, which is designed to help museum
decision-makers implement the Excellence and Equity recommendations.

In the morning session, Planning for Change, learn to match leadership
structure and improvement efforts with the developmental stage of the
organization, thereby avoiding traps that may prevent museums from changing
and improving. In the afternoon session, Teamwork-A Key for Facilitating
Change, learn how and when to effectively use a team approach to facilitate
organizational change.

The all-day distance learning workshop for Change will be Wednesday, November
1. Illinois and Wisconsin sites will begin at 9:00; Ohio, Indiana and
Michigan sites will begin at 10:00. The sites are: Hoffman Estates, IL;
Indianapolis and South Bend in IN; Saginaw and Southfield in MI; Cleveland
and Columbus in OH; and Madison, WI.  Registration is $40 for MMC members and
$50 for non-MMC members. Send your check with name, address, phone and fax
