Beginning September 25, 1995, Northeast Document
Conservation Center will host a four week exchange program
for eastern European conservators. The program is sponsored
by the Soros Foundations, the Trust for Mutual
Understanding, The Getty Grant Program, and the United
States Information Agency. This year's exchange builds on
the experience of last year's pilot program; the scope has been
expanded to include two paintings conservators from Russia,
who will be based at the Williamstown Art Conservation
Center (WACC). Three paper conservators from Russia and
Lithuania will be based at NEDCC. The visitors will spend
two and a half weeks working side-by-side with American
conservators at NEDCC and WACC. The group will then
spend one and a half weeks touring museums and conservation
laboratories in New York and Washington, DC. For
additional information on the program, contact Ann Russell at
NEDCC.
