I've used Scotch adhesive transfer tape on the back of bevel-cut mat board
labels.  Sticks to the wall, minimal clean-up (some residue but it scrapes
and sands off, and gets painted over easily), relatively cheap (about $6
for the dispenser and $3 or so for a roll of 11 yds, which lasts for 2-3
shows).  We change shows every 5 weeks, and don't want to spend a lot of
money on elaborate labeling.
