Development Associate I
The California Museum Foundation, the non-profit fund raising affliate of
the California Museum of Science and Industry, Los Angeles, is seeking an
experienced development professional and grantwriter. This full-time
position will be responsible for the research and development of text,
proposals, and correspondence to support program and project funding
activities. The Development Associate I reports to the Director of
Development in an 11-member department.
Qualifications
Three to five years of professional fund raising experience, preferably in
a museum, educational, or cultural organization. Demonstrated superior
proposal writing ability, as evidenced by successful submissions to the
Institute of Museum Services, National Science Foundation, National
Endowment for the Humanities, U.S. Department of Education or to major
national foundations. Must demonstrate ability to work collaboratively
with program staff to create compelling proposals for new projects. Must
be able to independently lead the proposal development process, including
developing multi-year, multi-funder budgets. Can demonstrate familiarity
with prospect research sources, on-line search capability a plus.
Bachelor's degree or higher required. Experience working with high-level
volunteers a plus. Salary range: $35,000 - $42,000, excellent benefit
package, rewarding work environment.
