There is a strong feeling in many parts of the world against too
specialised a training in any very narrow museum field - especially when
looking forward to career progression employers generally want
well-rounded people who understand all aspects of museum work.

Hence the emphasis on Museum Education as a singificant element IN a
broadly based Museum Studies programme, rather than Museum Education on its
own. There are very good Education options within several Museum
Studies and Museum Management MA programmes in Europe - with Leicester as
the longest-established and probably the largest. The alternative track
is to do a more general Education (eg. teacher training) MA and follow
this with Museum Education research at M.Phil. or doctoral level:
Leicester (again) King's College, University of London, and City
University (London) all offer this possibility to those with MAs in
either Museum Studies, Education or Museum Management.
