Call for Papers
The Forrest C. Pogue Public History Institute at Murray State
University will host a conference entitled "Americans Remember the Civil
War: Scholarship, Preservation, and Public Memory" on April 4 and 5 1997 in
Murray, Kentucky. Individual proposals related to the themes of the Civl
War homefront, gender and the War, race and the War, and interpretation and
preservation of Civil War sites are encouraged. Proposals that relate to
the Civl War in Kentucky are especially welcome. Please submit paper
propsals (including a one to two page abstract and a brief curriculum vitae)
by JUNE 1 1996 to the conference co-chairs, William H. Mulligan, Jr or
Lesley J. Gordon at:
