Eric and others -

I can't resist adding an anecdote on the topic...

When my son was three years old, he and his father were in the
Musee Conde at the Chateau de Chantilly. A large painting of
Venus by Ingres, hanging high up on a wall crowded with other
works, caught their eye.

My son wondered who the lady was, and after learning her name,
wanted to know more. My husband replied that Venus was a goddess
who made men fall in love with her because she was so beautiful.

The three year old and
his father contemplated Ingres' work and then in a critical
voice, my son asked, "How could men think her beautiful without
any beautiful clothing on?

End of story.
