I am currently a graduate student at The George Washington University's
Museum Education Program. The program combines coursework in educational
theory and museum studies with supervised field placements in educational
settings (usually public schools) and museums. The program leads to a
Master of Arts in Teaching in the field of museum education.
I have been looking for sometime for scholarship/fellowship funds to help
me finance my education. I haven't had much success, and I thought
someone on the list might have some suggestions. I have spent a great
deal of time at the Foudation Center looking under museums, arts, and
education headings. Most listings under education are for secondary
school teachers (not for people like me, who intend to work in an
education department of a museum), and most listings under arts are for
studio artists. I also searched at my university, but there is not much
available to students in my department.
Does anyone out there have any other suggestions or leads? Any
information would be very greatly appreciated. I would also be happy to
answer questions about my program, if anyone is curious.
Thanks!
Lauren Brownstein
