>From what I have found, the two major authors on Williamsburg and changing
interpretations over time are Eric Gable and Richard Handler. They co-authored
a piece called "Colonialist Anthropology at Colonial Williamsburg" in
_Museum Anthropology_ Volume 17 (Oct 1993) 26-31.  Gable and Handler, with
Anna Lawson, wrote "On the Uses of Relativism: Fact, Conjecture, and Black
and White Histories at Colonial Williamsburg" in _American Ethnologist_,
Volume 19 (November 1992) 791-805. These two works should help get you
started on the subject.
