Andrew Wills asked for an "email address, telephone number or fax
number" for the US National Museum.

I'll try to clarify this (somewhat) confusing subject:

The US National Museum is now better known as the various museums of the
Smithsonian Institution (which also includes a number of research
centers). The collection of the USNM was divided between the various
museums - the American History parts went to the National Museum of
American History, the flora & fauna and ethnographic collections went to
the National Museum of Natural History, the aeronautical materials went
(came) to the National Air Museum (now National Air and Space Museum),
and so on. Each bureau (museum or research center) operates more or less
independantly.

If you could tell us what part of the USNM collection or which staff
member/subject area you're trying to reach, we can probably get you to the righ
t museum.
