We had a "Brown Bag" series at the Anchorage Museum in the early
80s. It was organized by a volunteer, but took a good deal of staff time
- someone to introduce, fill in, etc. We had a range of talks on
history, collecting, and art subjects. Every Wednesday (I think) - with
a schedule out listing offerings for the next two months. At the time we
didn't have a cafe, so people did bring their lunch. The program died
for lack of participation after a while. We never did attract the
downtown workers - most of the feds in the federal building across the
street only got 45 minute lunches so were't interested, and they were the
largest closeby audience. I don't think we'd ever resurrect the program
on a regular basis.
