Help!  I have a student carrying out an artefact analysis of an early 20thC
ashtray, and she is stuck.  She has located references to smoking
paraphernalia of all kinds except ashtrays.  While this enables her to
situate the social history of smoking, it leaves a mysterious gap.

Any references?  Any ideas?  The collector literature might be of use - any
names?
