May I suggest you write to this museum and tell them that they lost a
volunteer, and why?  It may be that this museum doesn't particularly want
volunteers, or it may be that the person in the job is a bungler.  Write to the
director of the museum, just to let him/her know what the volunteer office
staff is doing to the museum's PR program.  Then, by all means, volunteer at
the library.  Always go where you're appreciated.
