When we've recruited and accepted "interns" it is usually tied to the
person receiving college credit for the experience. The number of hours
they work is related to the number of credits they are earning. Because
the internship is tied to the university, academic objectives must be
delineated by the student and be acceptable to both the academic advisor
and the intern's museum supervisor.
We do depend on summer students to help us in the Naturalist Center when
our docents wander off for vacations...but we identify them officially as
volunteers since they are only on assignment for the summer. Our docents are
recruited for one-year assignments.
