POSITION TITLE:     ** Arts Centre Supervisor **

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, (formerly Burnaby Arts
Centre), Parks and Recreation Dept., City of Burnaby, British Columbia

CONDITIONS: Note "T" of Schedule "B" of Inside Agreement; otherwise normal
for an Inside Division employee.


STATUS:                Regular Full Time

DUTIES: This is administrative and supervisory work in planning, directing and
coordinating operations and services at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.  The
employee participates in the development of divisional goals and objectives and,
upon approval, implements strategies and programs aimed at promoting the Arts
Centre's facilities, services and programs.  Supervises the work of clerical
and building services staff; maintains liaison with a variety of internal and
external contacts; oversees the preparation of and administers budgets, rental
contracts and rental agreements; coordinates and oversees private bookings, and
major events and activities at the Arts Centre as they relate to Centre
operations; acts in the absence of a superior within defined limits.  Performs
related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from university in Arts Administration or other
related discipline plus considerable related administrative and facility
management experience OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, objectives and philosophy
relative to administering the operations and services of the Arts Centre; of the
principles and objectives in marketing and promoting Arts Centre facilities,
services and programs; of the applicable rules, regulations, objectives and
policies governing the work performed; of the needs, interests and requirements
in the community as related to the Arts Centre and related programs.  Ability to
plan, direct and administer the operations and services of the Arts Centre; to
effectively supervise staff and to participate in the hiring and performance
evaluations of same; to establish and maintain effective relationships with a
variety of internal and external contacts; to develop and implement
communication strategies and activities; to prepare and adminster budgets.
Valid B.C. Driver's Licence.

SALARY RANGE:          $3,452. - 3,595. - 3,750.-4,074./Month (Pay Grade 25)
                       Interim rate.
