Could anyone advise me on how to seek funding for the development of several
pre-Columbian textile collections? I plan to do this through my own travels,
possibly by commissioning Native American men and women to reproduce
traditional, pre-Columbian patterns. My plan is to rent these collections to
museums so that everyone can appreciate their complex craftsmanship and beauty
before they are completely lost to commercialism. Eventually I would like to
start my own museum dedicated exclusively to these textiles.

I am NOT a museum professional and have no museum experience. I lived in Colom-
bia, South America for nine years and have my M.A. in Latin American Studies
from Stanford University. Textiles have been my avocation (passion) for over
thirty years and I myself weave and knit. I teach Spanish part-time at Colorado
College while coordinating a full-time research project there.

I would appreciate any advice you might have on this subject.
