I came upon this thread late, but have you read "Inks for Documentation in
Vertebrate Research Collections" by Williams, S.L. and Hawks, C.A. (Curator
29/2:93-108, 1986)? They discuss the pros and cons of various "permanent"
india-type inks, including fluid resistance and opacity.
