EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF MUSEUMS
The nation's largest State Museum Professional Association, headquartered =
in Austin, is seeking an exceptionally energetic person to provide strong =
leadership to this dynamic organization. TAM is currently undertaking =
several projects, including Multicultural Initiatives and Resource =
Sharing, which have broad implications for the entire museum field. The =
Director will be responsible for administering an organization with over =
800 individual and institutional members, working closely with the =
governing Council, and with associated committees and affinity groups. =
Other significant duties include coordination of the Annual Meeting, =
production of a bi-monthly newsletter, coordination of development =
efforts and writing of grant proposals, management of a three-person =
staff, and the fiscal affairs of an organization with a $250,000 budget. =
The Executive Director also coordinates advocacy efforts and publicly =
represents TAM and state-wide museum interests. This position involves =
frequent travel, mostly within Texas. Qualifications include an M.A., a =
minimum of five years of broad-based museum and management experience, =
excellent communication skills, and a knowledge of the current issues of =
