Eric is probably right, and in 6 months I'll see this thread again, and
it won't as interesting, but here go my two cents:
One further reason why www pages will not replace actaul museums (in my
book):
the cost of museum admission and public transportation are still cheaper
than buying a computer and paying for internet access. For many of us
that may not be a huge difference, factoring in multiple visits, cost of
travelling to museums on the other side of the country; but for a whole
lot of people in the world and the US, virtual museums are just not an
option, because they don't have access to a computer.
(Unless Newt comes through on his promise to give out free laptops)
Actaully I'm curious if any of the museums w/WWW sites have programs
where they make access available to visitors to the physical museum.
