I am currently doing research on new alternatives to traditional
centralized hierarchy in large museums. I read the piece in
Museum News on Skramstad and Hamp's reorganization at the Henry Ford Museum,
and I am interested in other techniques found useful in the field.
Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with matrix organization,
organic structure, or self-directed work teams as an alternative
to the traditional pyramid? Please post your case specifics and
your own personal analysis to the list so that we can compare
management/staff perceptions.
Thanks in adavnce,
Patrick L. Ralston
