Sherman Lee's text is a standard for asian art texts, yes, but I think
that the book is becoming a bit dated. I used the the book in a survey
course at a local college a few years ago. A book I do suggest is the
"Son of Heaven" catalogue that came out, I believe, in '88(?). You may find
other texts by writing to some of the museums in china.(sorry I do not
know of any addresses.) But, the english in these books are atrocious and
have a very pronounced bias in the reading. Other than that, I am not to
aware of any North American publications that may suit your needs.
