We are considering the implications of establishing a policy to train
volunteer tour guides in the museum, as a means of introducing
previously disadvantaged communities to our outreach programmes. We hope to
widen our network by identifying community leaders or personalities to act
as guides, who may have a novel interpretation of our museum displays, and
who may be able to contribute to educational programmes.
We would like to hear of the similar experience of other multi-cultural
outreach programmes, particularly of the incentives which might encourage
such valuable participation.
