I've been on vacation so I don't know if this thread is dead yet.
     However if Sally Shelton's writing a book, here's another suggestion.

     The Cairo museum figures in The Seventh Scroll by Wilbur Smith.  The
     deputy director's killing some of his curators so he can find an
     Egyptian tomb.  The musuem is pretty peripheral although the treasure
     does end up there at the end!
