            THE 33RD IRENE LEACHE MEMORIAL EXHIBITION


Calling all artists!  The exhibition will be on view from March 10
through April 21, 1996. This biennial competition, featuring
paintings, sculpture, and works on paper, was established in order
to encourage regional artists and to recognize their inspiration
and accomplishments.

Each artist may submit up to three works (paintings, drawings,
watercolors, collage, prints, and sculpture).  All works must be
original and completed within the last two years to be eligible for
consideration.  A $15.00 non-refundable entry fee made payable to
the Irene Leache Memorial, slides of the works, and entry materials
must be submitted to The Chrysler Museum of Art, 245 West Olney
Road, Norfolk, Virginia  23510-1587, no later than 5:00 p.m. on
October 1, 1995.

On Saturday, March 9, 1996, certificates of distinction and
$3,000.00 in cash prizes will be awarded during a preview for
Museum members and all artists who enter the competition.

Jock Reynolds, Director of the Addison Gallery of American Art at
Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts, will serve as the juror.

York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania,

North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida.
