Aren't there some parallels to be drawn between the rumpus around the "Enola
Gay" exhibit and uproar a few years ago about "The West As America"
(by the National Museum of American Art)? It seems that revisionist
history is not sitting well in the nation's capital. I'm sure there are
those close to the situation with "The West As America" who could comment
on this. Were the political and interpretive obstacles similar around the
two exhibits? Is there anything to be learned from examining the situation
around these two Smithsonian exhibits?
