We are also opening an original exhibition on Native Americans. Entitled
"Recollections: Lumbee Heritage", the exhibit looks at the early photographic
history of these North Carolina Indians, the Lumbees. It will open on January
14 and run through March 14. The exhibit confirms the strong culture and
history of this tribe, still struggling for federal recognition. Partnered
with "Partial Recall", an exhibit organized by Lucy Lippard and the Tyler
Gallery at Temple, both exhibits reflect the influence of outside forces
(read "white man") on these two cultures.
