I am not sure if this is what you want, but you can  reach the Inventories
of American Painting and Sculpture at the National Museum of American
Art by accessing the Web site whose URL is http://www.nmaa.si.edu or
its  gopher whose address is gopher://nmaa-ryder.si.edu. Hope this is
what you are looking for.  If not, I am sure someone else on the list
will send you the correct info.
