A query on behalf of a friend.
What can be used to <dry-clean> a tallit (prayer shawl) which is
composed of a wool textile plus a heavy silver neckband? The last
time the item was cleaned, the silver was badly discolored and had
to be carefully repolished, with attendant danger to the textile.
The silver is not readily removable from the textile. The article
is an heirloom (about 50-75 yrs old), "natural" color with several black
stripes at either end of the appx 45" x 72" rectangle.
