At the Michigan State University Museum, we changed our policy from a
donation box (in a discrete location) to a suggested donation posted on the
doors and on a new, attractive donation bank in the center of the main
entrance hallway.  Suggested donation is $2.00 per adult, no charge for
university students and faculty or museum associates.  This change has
greatly increased our donations.
