There is a review in the NY Times Friday, June 30, of the book "White
Gloves: How we Create Ourselves Through Memory" by John Kotre (The Free
Press). The author is a professor of psychology and takes issue with the
old view of autobiographical memory (held by Freud, repressed memory
advocates and a few curators) in favor of the idea that memory is
contantly refashioned by new information (as is the object in the museum
collection).
Thought it of interest as we confront our unbearable lightness of being
and firecrackers at the same time this weekend.
