There are a few smaller and less known Egyptian Collections in California
- the MH DeYoung Museum at Golden Gate Park has one, while San Francisco
State University holds a small but nice collection donated by the family
of Adolph Sutro (1830-1898) former Mayor and book collector. Sutro's
collection included papyri now held at the Sutro Library (San Francisco).
There was mention of the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum in San Jose. It is
a diverse collection with sculpture, jewelry, tomb models, funerary
articles, mummies, and a number of reproductions. It is operated by the
religious order of AMORC. Highlights of the Rosicrucian Museum include a
well-done full-scale reproduction of a rock tomb.
