Michele Ronnick asks about cast galleries. There is still one here in Oxford at
the Ashmolean Museum. It is nominally under the curatorship of the Lincoln
Professor of Classical Art and Archaeology, latterly Sir John Boardman. How
accessible it is during the Ashmolean's current buiding program I do not know.
Casts are also a common form of adding to or forming numismatic collections.
The Muenzkabinett in Winterthur, Switzerland is centred around a notable
historic collection of such casts.
