I have to agree completely with Douglas Tilghman. I share the
wonderment of many in being able to see images on the WWW etc but
in the end the people I deal with are after information - the kind
of information that says yes, no, or maybe in terms of visiting or
not visiting our site.
Since we have placed our collections and marine information data
bases online at Queen's University and thus on the internet as well
our library/archive patrrons have increased, not a lot but enough to
encourage placing more data on line.
Increasing access, the buzzword of the 80's by letting people know
what we have has a long way to go in museums before we catch up
to libraries.
