I've been intersted in this discussion. We (at the Austrlian
Museum in Sydney) are having an exhibition called
"Rediscovering Pompeii", which we are bringing in from
Italy. The exhibition is an important marriage of of
technology and culture, using extensive computer
interactives together with over 200 objects. The
informatuion technology is not merely an adjunct to the
exhibition, but a thread tying all parts together.
In trying to design the exhibition space we wanted to see
whethre there was any research about integrating computers
into exhibitions - not in the "educational" sense, or
developing them from scratch, of which there is a broad
lietrature, but actually PHYSICALLY integrating them
(lighting, noise, placement, traffic flows, etc).
Has anybody out there have any experience with this with any
tips about what we should watch out for?
Thanks.
