Hi everyone, I've been having a hard time with America Online (it's too busy
to let me on!) so I do not know if the burning question has been discussed:
Is the Smithsonian pulling the Enola Gay exhibit?
I've been hearing that the fuselage will be displayed alone, with very little
if any text.
My opinion: If there is going to be no interpretation, it should not be
displayed at all. Without historic/contextual information the Enola Gay
becomes just another piece of an old plane.
(or an art object--a little joke from our museum studies program, that a
piece of art can stand on its own w/o a label...it's only a joke, please take
it as such)
Seriously though; not knowing the mission of the Air and Space Museum, I do
not know if it incorporates interpretation in its exhibits or just showcases
them (somewhat like some art museums).
