On Tues, 25 Oct, Valerie Wheat asked about railroads and about food exhibits;
I've seen several railroad responses, but few food responses. I highly
recommend, Food History News, an eight to twelve page bi-monthly newsletter,
for keeping track of culinary history, especially museum based food events,
"historic dining opportunities," and exhibits about food.
Consulting my most recent edition, I see that right where Ms. Wheat is
sitting there is an event - at the Smithsonian - yesterday and today.
"What's the Catch: Fish, Shellfish and Fisheries in America," a two-day
symposium held at Carmichael Auditorium at the NMAH.
Also, "The Raw and the Cooked: Images of Food," an exhibit at the New York
Public Library, described as "a pictorial timeline of food in history" in the
Third Floor Galleries.
