I, too, could not let Joshua Heuman's post go without comment.  Joshua,
fun, excitement, and creativity in no way compromise the intellectual
atmosphere of any field or discipline.  Beyond that, let me suggest that
you take a look at some of the archives of Museum-L.  Recently (last 3 months
or so), people have been sharing their ideas on just this subject.
