Would someone care to share a good treatment with me in point form.I have
several Rev War drums with skins that are rippled and some about to
continue tearing. I've worked on vellum and parchment but never a
drumskin. My concern is softening it yet wanting to feed it lanolin to
prevent further tearing.
I have had good results with 111 Trichlorethane(Renaissance Leather
Restorer) from Conservation supplies.Leaves a rather excess waxy residue
wihich can be buffed off from a rifle sling but when it comes to tender
drumheads that show damage I am leary.
Thankyou for a reply from fellow Conservators.
Also does anyone have an idea how many conservators are on this listserv
and what groups are represented?
