I don't know whether it is still on display, but in the early
1970s either the Victoria and Albert or the British Museum had
the most glorious room dedicated to casts.  Full size, in their
full extant you could walk among the Doors to the Baptestry of
Florence, The Column of Trajan, and so many other famous works
from antiquity and the Renaissance juxtaposed in the same
emmense space that you might think that aliceinwonderlandlike
you were popped down a rabbit hole to find yourself swimming
among the full-sized illustrations of Janson's History of Art.
