one suggestion might be what Amstdy-L does which is to batch the replies
to a particular posting so that all the replies come in under one
message with the subject of the original posting. (sometimes that can be
as many as 8 replies in one response-posting. That way, one can zap the
replies based on just looking at the subject field. I dont know how this
works and I would assume it makes more work for the moderator, but it
seems there is a consensus growing that much of the
extraneous(unsubscribes, personal chats, etc.)need to be bounced back to
the sender with a brief reason why or dealt with by the moderator off
the list. I don't envy the job of this list's moderator.
