There has been a string of discussions and questions regarding the
concept of the "virtual" exhibit, and I wonder now if I inadvertently
caused some of the confusion myself by choosing an easy, if
technically incorrect, word to describe the gallery project I wrote
about in a post this weekend. If so, my apologies.
The "completely *virtual* art gallery" concept I wrote about would not
exhibit art from any one or any combination of museums -- nor, in
fact, any "digitized" rather than "digital" artwork. In other words,
it would promote the vast number of artists producing electronic work
that can be exhibited in its *original* form. This gallery will be
like any other non-collecting gallery, but its walls will be WWW
pages... the exhibtions will be curated (thematic, group and solo
shows) just as they would be elsewhere... -- just the "structure" is
different.
Any ideas or insights would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
Sherri Helwig
