The State Historical Society of North Dakota seeks qualified applicants for the historic site supervisor position located at the Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Site in Cooperstown, ND. The Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Site consists of two historic sites that interpret the story of the Cold War years in North Dakota. They are the Oscar-Zero Missile Alert Facility and the November-33 Launch Facility. These sites are preserved remnants of the 321st strategic Missile Wing, a cluster of intercontinental ballistic missile launch sites that were spread over a 6,500-square-mile area around the Grand Forks Air Force Base. The Oscar-Zero Launch Control Center and the November-33 Launch Facility played an integral part in the Cold War in North Dakota and the world. Today it operates as a historic site, providing guided tours to visitors from around the world. Established as a state historic site in 2009, the State Historical Society seeks a site supervisor to advance the site in programming, regional networking, and national recognition.
The historic site supervisor will have many responsibilities, including: supervising seasonal staff, building maintenance, actively engaging in networking and public relations, developing and coordinating special events, conducting historical research, monitoring public use, and developing programming and interpretive information. Administrative duties include recruiting and training staff, , staff and facility management, project management, security, record keeping, following historic preservation procedures for managing historic structures, completing reports and planning documents, and museum collections and exhibit management. Qualified candidates will be able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
