EXHIBITION COORDINATOR
REECE MUSEUM at EAST TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY
Johnson City, TN
Responsible to the Director of the Reece Museum for all aspects (planning, unpacking and packing, shipping, presenting, publicizing, and deinstalling) of exhibitions. Oversight and inventory control of museum exhibition preparation spaces (workshop, workroom, frame, and exhibition furniture rooms), and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of exhibition management
• Experience using databases (preferably PastPerfect Museum Software)
• Experience in basic object handling
• Excellent manual dexterity
• Ability to use digital cameras
• Familiarity with social media platforms
• Proficient in Adobe software (Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign)
• Proficient in Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Power tool/shop experience
• Ability to lift/move 50 lbs., work from a 12' ladder, work in confined spaces, and tolerate occasional adverse conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Museum Studies, Art, History, Anthropology, or related field and one year experience (beyond undergraduate level) working in a museum, gallery, or related site.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years' experience and an understanding of Appalachian culture and history preferred.
