EDITOR - The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, a non-profit organization, seeks individual for Editor with skills/talent/aptitude in the following areas:
• Editor for the Watch & Clock Bulletin, a bi-monthly journal. Responsible for working with authors, article review, copyediting, organization, layout and pre-press.
• Editorial review for the bi-monthly Mart & Highlights, a buy/sell and news publication.
• Editor for special publications and other NAWCC printed and online materials.
The editor is responsible for the planning, editorial content, writing, production, evaluation, and management of all publications. He/She identifies publication content theme(s) and cover story and content outlines; recommends changes as needed; contributes ideas, content, materials, and organizational coordination for a variety of projects involving organization’s online presence and other department publication needs, as required. Manages the day-to-day operations of all publications’ functions; develops and oversees the execution of policies and procedures of all publications. The editor ensures adherence to quality standards regarding appearance and content.
Successful candidate must have superior writing and editing skills; willingness to gain deep knowledge of the field of horology; and willingness to take on the unique challenges of the organization’s publications. The ideal candidate is a flexible, self-motivated team player, and leader with superb time management skills. The candidate should have experience with story ideas, reporting, writing, gathering images, recruiting and editing the work of freelancers and non-professional authors, page layout in InDesign, and managing all editorial publications from start to finish. Experience working with CS5. Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style a plus. Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or Liberal Arts preferred.
