Volunteer Administrator Contractor
The Pro Football Hall of Fame is seeking a professional who has a strong sense of community and interpersonal skills to be contracted over a one year period as a Volunteer Administrator. It is also important that the selected contractor be both patient and flexible. The selected professional will maintain, coordinate and evaluate the Hall of Fame’s valuable Museum Volunteer program. The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Museum Volunteers serve in a variety of departments, primarily collections, education and guest services. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience working with volunteers and have experience in one of the following fields: museum education, human resources or guest services.
General Description of Duties:
- Administrate and further develop the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Museum Volunteer Program
- Recruit and train new Museum Volunteers
- Fulfill the Museum Volunteer needs of the Pro Football Hall of Fame staff
- Ensure that the Museum Volunteer Program maintains a high level of guest services excellence
- Assist the Hall of Fame Museum and Youth and Education staff in developing and administrating Educational Docent programming
- Maintain high morale and excitement among Museum Volunteers and fulfill their needs
Responsibilities:
- Interview new Museum Volunteer candidates and coordinating orientations for those selected
- Evaluate opportunities to recruit new volunteers at existing Pro Football Hall of Fame events, community events and at local high schools and universities
- Publish the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s volunteer newsletter the “Huddle”
- Recruit existing volunteers to staff Educational Events, Special Events, Private Events, Docent Programming, Collections Care, VIP tours and other administrative needs.
- Coordinate and create guest services training for current Museum Volunteers
Key Goals:
- Evaluate and assess professional standards and policies of the Museum Volunteer Program over a one year period
- Develop and evaluate volunteer need for each Hall of Fame department
- Develop recommendations to achieve a high level of services from the Museum Volunteer program
Education:
Degrees: Bachelors Degree required
Preferred area of concentration in one of the following areas: Human Resources Management, Education, Museums Studies, Sports Management or Non-Profit Management
Work Experience:
Experience working as a volunteer or working with volunteers required. Experience working in sports or non-profit industry required. Supervisory or administrative experience preferred.
Personal Qualifications:
- Ability to multi-task
- Attention to detail; well organized and ability to train and educate others
- In-depth interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to relate to all types of people; guest services skills
- Public speaking abilities required
- Must have a positive attitude and desire to work within the community
- Must have Microsoft Office computer skills
Salary
Starting $14 per hour 35 hours per week for a one year period
